1. House of Rep asks Buhari to declare herdsmen as terrorists

The House of Representatives on Thursday, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to declare herdsmen terrorists.

The House demanded the declaration after Hon. Benjamin Wayo, lamented that Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State is one of the areas most affected by the continued herdsmen attacks on Benue farming communities.

2. Osinbajo survives helicopter accident death scare

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday survived a death scare as the helicopter expected to convey him back to Abuja after attending the graduation ceremony of Nigeria Customs Senior Course in Gwagwalada on Thursday developed a mechanical fault.

He thereafter drove back to the Presidential Villa.

3. Senate orders INEC to release 1993 presidential election results

The Senate, yesterday passed a resolution directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to as a matter of necessity declare the results of the June 12 presidential election.

The Senate also resolved that both winners, Chief MKO and Kingibe be recognized as both President and Vice President elect respectively.

4. Police release video evidence of suspect who implicated Saraki in Offa bank robbery

The Nigerian Police has released videos on confession of another suspect which implicated Senate President, Dr. Saraki in the continuous investigation of the Offa bank robbery.

The video was released on the official social media page of the Nigerian Police.

5. House of rep in rowdy session over June 12 declaration as democracy day

A rowdy session erupted in the House of Representatives on Thursday over the recent declaration of June 12 as the new Democracy Day, in Nigeria by President Buhari.

While some lawmakers supported it, others asked the president to rescind his decision. Some of the lawmakers also kicked against the honour given to Moshood Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12,1993 presidential election.

6. Saraki replies Nigerian police over Offa bank robbery allegations

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has yesterday, replied the Police force on allegations of involvement in the Offa bank robbery.

The Police had earlier requested Saraki to give a written response to their inquiries within 48 hours.

7. Senate Supports President Buhari’s June 12 declaration

The Senate, yesterday threw its weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to recognize June 12 as democracy day in Nigeria.

The Senate resolved that both winners, Chief MKO and Kingibe be declared by INEC as both President and Vice President elect respectively.

8. AGF Malami disagrees with Senate over no confidence vote on IGP Ibrahim Idris

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF),Abubakar Malami, has said the declaration of a No-Confidence Vote passed by the National Assembly on the Inspector General of Police is outside the range contemplated by Sections (4) and (88) of the Constitution.

Malami added that the oversight powers conferred on the legislature cannot be open-ended.

9. FG promises to pay outstanding arrears and allowances to civil servants

The Federal Government on Thursday promised to pay promotion arrears and backlog of allowances owed public servants soon.

Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs, Winifred Oya-Ita, gave the assurance in Abuja at a Peer Review Mechanism (PRM), meeting for Permanent Secretaries in the Federal Civil Service.

10. Super Eagles drop in latest FIFA ranking

Nigeria dropped to 48 in the latest World rankings and 7th in Africa ahead of the World Cup tournament.

The top ten position in Africa is occupied by Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, Moroco, Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, and Mali.
